Gestalt Coaching for Career Transitions

A new role, a move abroad, a job that no longer fits: career transitions ask a lot of us. Gestalt coaching helps you slow down, notice what is really happening for you, and choose your next step with clarity and confidence.

What is Gestalt Coaching?

Gestalt is a German word meaning "form" or "pattern." Gestalt coaching looks beyond what you do to how you do it: how you approach situations, experience them, and think about them. It combines proven coaching methods with four core Gestalt principles:

  • Focus on the here and now. We work with what is present for you in the moment rather than only analyzing the past.

  • The whole person. Your emotions, perceptions, behavior and physical sensations all matter, alongside your ideas and experience.

  • Creative experimentation. We try out new ways of thinking and acting in a safe space and learn from what happens.

  • A co-created relationship. Change happens through genuine dialogue and presence between coach and client.

How it helps during a career transition

Career change is rarely just a practical problem. It can bring up doubt, old habits and patterns that quietly hold you back. Gestalt coaching helps you see those patterns, try new approaches, and make decisions that fit who you are. Clients often come to me when they are:

  • Feeling stuck, unmotivated or close to burnout

  • Stepping into their first management role

  • Starting a new job and wanting to establish themselves quickly

  • Relocating to a new country or culture

  • Considering a career change and unsure of the next step

What to expect

We begin with a free initial consultation to see whether we're a good fit. We then agree on your goals and a coaching agreement covering confidentiality, schedule and fees. Sessions take place online, usually twice a month. You set the goals, and I provide support, reflection and, when it helps, challenge.
