The Parallels Between Client Relationships and Cat Companionship

I have been reflecting lately on how working with clients is a lot like living with a cat
๐พ ๐๐ง๐๐๐ฉ๐๐ง๐๐๐ง๐ญ ๐๐๐ญ๐ฎ๐ซ๐: Cats donโt always do what you want, when you want. Coaching clients also move at their own paceโyou canโt force change, but you can create the conditions for clients to choose it.
๐พ ๐๐ซ๐ฎ๐ฌ๐ญ ๐๐ง๐ ๐๐ฎ๐ญ๐จ๐ง๐จ๐ฆ๐ฒ: A cat wonโt curl up in your lap until it feels ready. Similarly, clients need time, consistency, and ownership of their journey. Trust opens the door, but autonomy makes for lasting growth.
๐พ ๐๐ฎ๐๐ญ๐ฅ๐ ๐๐จ๐ฆ๐ฆ๐ฎ๐ง๐ข๐๐๐ญ๐ข๐จ๐ง: Cats speak in small cuesโtail flicks, ear twitches, quiet shifts. Coaching clients often communicate just as subtly. A great coach hears what is said and sees what is shown.
Cats thrive in safe, calm spaces. Clients flourish when coaching provides the sameโnon-judgment, encouragement, and space for reflection.
โจ Whether feline or human, growth happens when trust, safety, and curiosity come together. That's the essence of great coaching.
